The Dance Movement Therapy clinical sessions are offered to children, adolescents, adults, people with disabilities and autism and they are in line with the principles of the Association of Dance Movement Psychotherapy (ADMP), UK and the guidelines of the National Institute of Health and Care Excellence (NICE), UK.
Consultation with families/carers to create a shared understanding of the person’s strengths, areas for development and design an individualized support plan to better access learning, relationships and life.
Supporting you to enhance self-development. The sessions will focus on increasing the person’s self -esteem, support him/her to build positive identity and increase self-awareness e.g., the ability to enhance emotional literacy and understanding of emotions.
Supporting you to build positive relationships, manage difficult relationships and increase psychosocial skills. The person will develop new relational patterns, increase his/her ability to relate with others in a more positive and functional way and find solutions to address difficult relationships e.g., bullying. The sessions also focus on developing the person’s psychosocial skills e.g., concentration, flexibility.
Supporting people with learning difficulties, disabilities and autism. Promoting inclusion and creating the sense of acceptance, celebration and belonging to a creative community are central ideas of our work. Through the sessions people with learning difficulties, disabilities and autism will feel understood, manage their difficulties and increase their psychosocial skills e.g. levels of eye-contact, transition and initiation skills.
Supporting you with self-regulation. For example, the person will increase his/her ability to manage difficult emotions e.g., anger, low mood, depression, anxiety, stress, issues around trauma and difficult changes and transitions e.g., divorce, separation, loss.
