Parent Consultation

Parent consultation is the collaboration between parents/carers and the counsellor/dance movement therapist aiming to offer support in terms of identifying, understanding and managing the child’s difficulties e.g., behaviour, emotional situation. The individual parent consultation sessions are offered to one and/or two parents/carers, take place once per week and last 45 minutes.

Who can the parent consultation sessions be offered to?

  • Parents/carers who would like to help their child to manage difficulties in daily life even if the child does not attend Dance Movement Therapy sessions.
  • Parents/carers of a child who attends Dance Movement Therapy sessions. In this case the consultation sessions help the parents/carers to further support the child’s progress in relation to the goals of the Dance Movement Therapy sessions.
  • Online consultation with parents/carers.

What does the plan of parent consultation include?

  • Free initial parent/carer consultation to assess the person’s needs.
  • Consultation with parents/carers (individual sessions) to create a shared understanding of the person’s strengths, areas for development and design an individualized support plan to better access learning, relationships and life.
